Weston-super-Mare Town Council will be officially opening the redeveloped Hutton Moor Skate Park on Sunday 6th August.
The Skate Park has been refurbished following a £75,000 grant from Sport England and £2500 from the Police and Crime Commissioner fund, into a sports facility suitable for a range of wheeled sports including skateboards, BMX Bikes, roller blades and scooters.
Weston Skate Park Association, made up of users of the skate park, have been fully involved in the process and helped inform the design. They worked with the Town Council and designers Canvas Spaces to ensure that the concrete design made the most of the space and that there was a route through the ramps and back again for users to travel.
Town Clerk Malcolm Nicholson said ‘Having a multi-wheel facility in Weston will help encourage activity and a healthy lifestyle. The ramps vary in size, making the skate park appealing to a wide age-range.’
The official opening is from 11am to 1pm, and the Mayor of Weston-super-Mare Councillor Jos Holder, will be cutting the ribbon. We will also be joined by the designers Canvas Spaces, as well as Weston Skate Park Association and representatives from Sports England and the Police and Crime Commissioners fund.

Notes to editors
• Weston-super-Mare Town council was established in 2000 and is the ‘parish’ council for the town. We are made up of 31 elected town councillors and are the only democratically elected body that exclusively represents the people of the town. We are the second largest civil parish council in England and Wales (by population).
• The Skate Park at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre was installed by North Somerset Council in 2001 before being taken over in 2004 by Weston-super-Mare Town Council.
