Cameron Service was selected to be the Mayor’s Cadet in 2014/15. He continued to be involved with the Air Cadets until he enlisted in the Royal Air Force for an initial period of 12 years. He is currently undertaking Basic Recruit Training at RAF Halton, Buckinghamshire for a period of 10 weeks and will then undertake 18 months of Technical Training at the Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering at RAF Cosford, Shropshire. On completion of his training Cameron will become an Aircraft Technician (Mechanical) and he is hoping to work on Chinook Helicopters.

The Mayor of Weston-super-Mare Councillor Mrs Jos Holder said ” I am particularly pleased to see Cameron enter into a career with the Royal Air Force. It is a significant time for the RAF as they celebrate their 100 years of being formed. His time as Mayor’s Cadet gave him confidence and helped in him being selected to join the RAF”.
