SUMMARY:FREE mindfulness and nature connection at Ellenborough Park West
DESCRIPTION:Come along to Ellenborough Park West for a FREE mindfulness session led by Steve. The sessions will be accessible for beginners and experienced participants alike and can be experienced as a one-off session or a progression over the summer. \nWe will begin with a short mindfulness/meditation practice to bring ourselves into the moment with a deeper awareness of ourselves. We will then take that awareness and presence out into the park to connect with and experience nature more deeply from a grounded and centered place. \nSteve has worked with trees and nature for over 30 years and has practiced various spiritual disciplines for longer. His work is based on 20 years of teaching the meditations and energy work of Michael Barnett\, as well as practicing healing arts and body work. He is excited to bring the two worlds together and provide a space for people to experience themselves and nature in a conscious and deeper way that will open them to the healing possibilities that being in nature can bring. \nNo booking required – we will meet next to the park’s noticeboard for a prompt 10:00am start. DESCRIPTION:10 May\, 12 noon – meet at the train station \nEllenborough Park and Clarence Park\nA short stroll through the quieter bit of town\, taking in the peaceful green spaces of Ellenborough Park and continuing to Clarence Park. There will be a short ‘mindful breathing’ session with this walk\, a useful easy technique to lower stress and anxiety and calm the mind. \nHow to Book\nThese walks are fully funded by VANS\, so they are all free. You can just turn up at the start place at the time. Nearly all of them start at 12 noon\, but check the details of your walk. DESCRIPTION:Natalie Fee is an award-winning environmental campaigner\, author\, speaker\, and founder of City to Sea\, a non-profit organization running campaigns to stop plastic pollution at source. She appears regularly as an expert on TV and news media and gives frequent motivational talks. \nIn 2019 Natalie won the Sunday Times Volvo Visionaries Award for her campaign work with City to Sea\, and in 2018 she was listed as one of the UK’s ‘50 New Radicals’ by The Observer / Nesta. In the same year the University of the West of England awarded her the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science in recognition of her services to the environment. \nShe won the Sheila McKechnie Award for Environmental Justice in 2017 for City to Sea’s #SwitchtheStick campaign and is proud to have been named Bristol 24/7’s Woman of the Year for 2018. \nNatalie also sits on the Bristol Advisory Committee for Climate Change. \nThe talk – how to save the world for free\nWe know that a better world is possible. One where we all get to breathe clean air\, marvel at the abundance of wildlife and enjoy life without worrying if it’s about to self-destruct. But how do we get there? And can it really be … easy? And fun?
