The Great Big Green Week is a nationwide celebration of action on climate change, taking place across the UK from the 24 September to 2 October.

This tree is to mark the beginning of Weston Town Council planting 10,000 trees in the town by 2030 to help mitigate climate change progress the council’s aim of achieving net zero as well as celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and her year as Mayor.

The Mayor Sonia Russe said “I am delighted to mark the beginning of Weston Town Councils commitment to plant 10,000 trees in Weston promoted by our climate crisis working group & I believe we are all aware that planting trees helps to mitigate the impact of climate change”.
