Volunteering
Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things you can do.
Volunteers have reported to have found a sense of purpose, gain confidence, build a real sense of achievement, meet new people and learn new skills. Not only that, you also can make a difference to your community and society in general. And most of all you get to have fun! Most volunteers have a great time, regardless of why they do it.
There are numerous opportunities to help local communities in Weston-super-Mare by volunteering. We always need volunteers to help at the Blakehay Theatre and Weston Museum, as well as local initiatives such as 'Love the outdoors'.
Corporate volunteering (also called employee volunteering) Volunteer Days are a great opportunity for teams to reap the benefits of working together to complete tasks while being outdoors or away from the normal routine. Employee volunteering can allow teams to feel that the work they do is not only contributing to the overall success of the company but that it is also helping out a cause that is important to them. This sense of purpose can lead to increased productivity and higher workplace morale.

Weston Museum
A video about volunteering at Weston Museum:
Weston Museum was in danger of closing until Weston-super-Mare Town Council stepped in and saved it for the community. To maintain the Museum for Weston-super-Mare, we actively encourage volunteers to become part of the team. Our volunteers give their time for a variety of different reasons; some are passionate about history and heritage, some are using the skills gained through their volunteer experience as a stepping stone to paid employment, and some simply want to avoid social isolation. Whatever your reason may be, joining our team will enable you to fulfil personal goals whilst helping sustain your local community museum.
Love the Outdoors
Whether you have been a keen gardener for many years, or have never touched a trowel in your life there is no disputing the fact that being outdoors can have fantastic effects on our wellbeing and physical fitness. 'Love the Outdoors' is an initiative set up to encourage volunteers to enhance their wellbeing, prevent social isolation and make a difference in their community by getting involved with our outdoor spaces.
Fridge of Free Stuff
We have a team of volunteers who assist with running the community fridge. If you have some free time, enjoy meeting new people and want to play a part in the fight against climate change, we would love you to join us. Please apply here.
