You may remember in February 2021 it was announced that Weston Town Council was joining with The Stable to secure the future of the Old Town Quarry. As the lease is coming to an end the Civic Society felt the time was right to seek new management for the quarry’s future.
Negotiations have been ongoing, and unfortunately, our surveys have shown that the Blacksmiths building which has not been maintained since the 1950’s has become completely unsafe. Both the Town Council and The Stable are still committed to taking over the lease, but until then the quarry is still under the management of the Civic Society.
The café is remaining as it is and will run as normal.
The Old Town Quarry is a historic and natural beauty spot in Weston-super-Mare. Abandoned more than half a century ago as a working quarry it has been carefully looked after by Weston Civic Society. A cafe, events arena, and art and craft studios have created this popular resident and visitor attraction set within a tranquil environment of natural beauty and wildlife.
It’s hoped that future live events will make full use of the amphitheatre grass area, with the cafe remaining part of the site.
