Weston-super-Mare Town Council (WSMTC) recently welcomed Miriam Feth, a trainee in public management from the District of Hamelin-Pyrmont, Germany, for a three-month work placement.
The exchange, part of our town twinning initiative, provided Miriam with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public sector marketing and hospitality.
Miriam, who works in Germany as a public management trainee, joined WSMTC’s team, working primarily with the tourism and marketing departments, as well as the Blakehay Theatre. During her time here, she developed key skills in marketing and event coordination, and gained a deeper understanding of local government operations in the UK.
Reflecting on her experience, Miriam praised the WSMTC team, saying, “The people here are incredibly friendly and helpful. I loved the team environment and how supportive everyone was.”
Although she enjoyed her time in Weston, Miriam admitted to missing a few things from home. “I missed the food, especially the bread!” she shared with a smile.
Miriam plans to take the skills and knowledge she gained during her placement back to her role in Germany. “I learned a lot about marketing here and I’m excited to implement these new ideas in my current job.”
When asked if she’d consider returning to work with WSMTC in the future, Miriam enthusiastically replied, “If I had the opportunity, I would definitely come back!”
We are grateful for Miriam’s contributions during her placement and wish her all the best in her future endeavours. This exchange has further strengthened the bond between Weston-super-Mare and our twin town, Hildesheim.
