Weston’s Weekly Market

Welcome to Weston’s Weekly Market

Weston’s weekly market, hosted by Somerset Independent Market, is a celebration of local life – a vibrant, welcoming space where residents and visitors alike can shop, explore, and connect.

From fresh produce and artisan goods to street food and handmade crafts, the market offers something new to discover each week while supporting the people who make our town unique.

Why a Weekly Market Matters

The market plays an important role in supporting Weston’s town centre and community.

The Story Behind the Market

Weston Town Council recognised the value a regular, high-quality market could bring to the town – not just as a shopping destination, but as a key part of Weston’s wider community and regeneration ambitions.

To ensure the market could grow sustainably and offer a diverse, high-quality experience, the Council made the decision to appoint an experienced market operator to deliver and manage the weekly market.

This approach allows the market to benefit from professional expertise while remaining rooted in the needs and identity of the local community.

How the Market Operator Was Chosen

The appointment of the market operator was carried out through an open and transparent process to ensure the best possible outcome for Weston.

The successful operator selected was Somerset Independent Market; who currently run both Weston Independent Market, as well as Taunton Independent Market.

Weather & Market Operations

The market operates in a wide range of weather conditions, and every effort is made for it to go ahead as planned.
However, safety is always the priority.

Before every market, the operator goes through a 3 step process to ensure that event can proceed safely.

While most markets will go ahead, extreme conditions may result in cancellation or reduced trader attendance. All operation announcements can be found either on the Weston Independent Market Facebook Page, or the Weston Independent Market Website.
