Weston Town Council has created a heartfelt initiative aimed at fostering inclusivity, combating loneliness, and celebrating Pride Month.

Rainbow Chat Benches have popped up at Milton Road Cemetery, Ellenborough Park East, Clarence Park, Weston Museum and Italian Gardens. They are designed to provide a space for individuals to connect, share stories, and form new friendships, while also serving as a symbol of support for the LGBTQ+ community.

In the past year, Weston Town Council placed new benches on the High Street. Some of these are chat benches as they don’t have a back, which makes it easier for people to sit on either side and have a conversation. This was part of a ‘welcome back fund’ after COVID lockdowns.

The installation of Rainbow Chat Benches aligns perfectly with the celebration of Pride Month, as it symbolises the commitment of the town to supporting and uplifting the LGBTQ+ community. It serves as a visible reminder that everyone deserves respect, love, and acceptance, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
