Weston-super-Mare Town Council is proud to announce another spectacular Armed Forces and Emergency Services Day on Saturday 21st June 2025 — now just weeks away. This much-loved annual event celebrates the dedication and sacrifice of our Armed Forces and Emergency Services personnel and their families.
Organised by the passionate volunteers of the Weston Armed Forces Committee, in proud partnership with the Weston Business Improvement District (BID) and Weston-super-Mare Town Council, this year’s event promises to be as memorable as ever.
Held on the Beach Lawns, the day will begin with a parade from the Grand Pier, featuring veterans, cadets, and representatives from our Armed Forces and Emergency Services. The parade will lead into a full day of family-friendly entertainment and moving tributes — including arena displays from the Armed Forces and appearances from the Emergency Services.
“Armed Forces and Emergency Services Day is our chance to come together as a community to honour the incredible service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces and Emergency Services personnel, veterans, and their families,” said the Mayor of Weston-super-Mare, Cllr Martin Williams. “It’s a day of celebration, gratitude, and unity – with plenty of fun to be had. I encourage everyone to head down to the Beach Lawns and be a part of it.”
Now a proud national tradition, Armed Forces and Emergency Services Day has its roots in Veterans’ Day and was first marked in 2009. It remains a vital opportunity to reflect on the courage of all who serve — from those in uniform to the cadets, families, and volunteers who support them.
This year’s event holds extra significance as 2025 marks 80 years since the end of World War II.
“This is a powerful milestone, and a time to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of a generation who endured so much,” said Armed Forces Champion, Cllr Catherine Gibbons. “VE Day brought both joy and sorrow, and it’s important we continue to reflect on the lasting impact of war. Armed Forces and Emergency Services Day is a chance to honour all who have served, support those who still do, and celebrate the peace and freedoms we enjoy today. Please join us on the Beach Lawns – to reflect, to celebrate, and to show your support. We must never forget.”
With live displays, tributes, family activities, and a few surprises planned, Weston-super-Mare’s Armed Forces and Emergency Services Day is shaping up to be an unforgettable event for all ages.
