Back in October 2017, Weston-super-Mare’s Chamber of Commerce, together with the Weston Mercury, launched a Surfers Against Sewage campaign for Weston to become an approved Plastic-free community. The Cleaner Coastlines campaign meant working with local government, businesses, schools, colleges and youth, church and community groups to help reduce the amount of single-use plastic in our town.
Cleaner Coastlines were absolutely delighted to receive the accreditation from Surfers Against Sewage in August 2018, with over 50+ amazing local business heroes signing up. Being a Plastic-free community doesn’t mean that you won’t see any plastic in Weston-super-Mare, but it demonstrates our commitment and dedication to our community, environment and reducing the amount of plastic pollution. Cleaner Coastlines are now launching phase two, and Debbie Apted talks with Becky Walsh about what that means for the town and how you can get involved.
