On behalf of the Mayor, Town Councillors and staff at Weston Town Council, we would like to express our deep sadness on hearing the news of the passing of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
The Town Mayor Councillor Mark Canniford said “Let’s not forget the huge role Prince Philip has played at the side of our Queen and his dedication to this country. He has left his mark on so many young people’s lives through the Duke of Edinburgh awards. The thoughts of the town’s people are with the Queen and all the Royal Family at this very sad time.”
As a mark of respect, the flag will be flown at half-mast at the Mayor’s Parlour, Grove House in Weston-super-Mare throughout the period of national mourning.
Buckingham Palace has created an online book of condolence for those who wish to pay their respects which will soon be available on the Royal Family website https://www.royal.uk/
