Weston Rotary are raising money for Weston Hospicecare by collecting Christmas trees on Saturday 9 January 2021 in exchange for a donation to the charity.

They will work alongside the Young Farmers and other backers including Enterprise, James’ Artisan Bakery, North Somerset Council and McDonalds.

Supporters of the ‘Pines for Pounds’ collection, as it will be known, will be able to book slots for their tree to be removed and disposed of by the taskforce via Weston Hospicecare’s website.

The hospice’s Community Fundraising Manager Sue Kingman says “We’re thrilled to have Weston Rotary offering such a great service in support of the hospice.

“At a time where we really need our community more than ever, we hope this service will prove extremely popular.”

Initial calculations indicate there will be capacity to collect up to 300 trees on Saturday 9 January with bookings available on a first come, first serve basis.

They will cover Weston-super-Mare, Yatton and Congresbury for the maiden year before looking to expand the service in January 2022.

Specific postcodes and details of how to book a collection will be available from Tuesday 1 December by logging on to westonhospicecare.org.uk.
