Residents in Weston-super-Mare are being invited to celebrate the reopening of two much loved community play areas after a major refurbishment programme delivered by Weston-super-Mare Town Council.
Following a competitive tender process, the Council appointed Proludic Ltd to carry out extensive improvement works at The Maltlands and Conniston Green play areas.
The refurbished sites will officially reopen on Saturday 25th July at 10:00am, marking the latest phase of the Council’s ongoing investment in play provision across the town.
Designed by the community!
The new play areas have been shaped directly by feedback from local residents through a public consultation process.
The project is a clear example of our “You Said, We Did” approach, with community responses helping determine the types of equipment, accessibility features and overall layout of each site.
The Maltlands – adventure and early years play
At The Maltlands, the redesign places climbing, balancing and movement at the heart of the play experience.
New features include:
• Dedicated early years play equipment
• Adventure-based climbing and balance elements
• Improved opportunities for children of different ages to play together
• Additional seating areas for families and carers
• Retention and integration of popular existing equipment within the new design
Coniston Green – inclusive play for all!
Consultation feedback showed that residents wanted a play area that was welcoming and accessible for children of all abilities.
The refurbished Coniston Green now includes:
• Inclusive play equipment
• Sensory and interactive play features
• Improved layout and visibility across the site
• Enhanced seating areas
• Colourful wet pour surfacing integrated into the design
• More than 55 individual play values across the play space
