We are pleased to share the latest developments at Old Town Quarry, following on from the earlier conversations and community feedback sessions. While progress has been steady behind the scenes, we recognise the importance of keeping you informed — and we thank you for your continued patience and support.
Progress update:
We remain on track with the building works, which have included the replacement of the roof and the installation of new windows and doors to the main building, alongside a range of other ongoing tasks.
We’ve included a few images with this update to give you a visual snapshot of the progress so far.

Café Concession – Applications Open
We are currently inviting expressions of interest for the café concession at the Quarry. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the vitality of this community space.
This is an exciting opportunity! The café will be a key part of how the Quarry serves the local community and works alongside other Quarry users.
- Proven experience in café or hospitality management.
- Capability to operate seven days a week.
- Commitment to delivering a high-quality, inclusive service.
If you know anyone who is interested in finding out more about the café concession, please contact us on development@wsm-tc.gov.uk or click on the link below for further information.
You asked, we listened! A bus stop reinstated right outside the Quarry entrance.
One of the most frequently raised issues in our Quarry Conversations was transport to and from the Old Town Quarry. So we’re delighted to receive confirmation that Bus Route 9 now once again stops directly outside the Quarry — providing much more convenient access, particularly from Alexandra Parade and the town centre stops.
For those using Bus Route 6, this also remains a good option, with a stop on Arundell Road, approximately a 10-minute walk from the site.
