Everyone loves a brass band, and you will have been entertained by Weston Brass if you have attended the annual Remembrance Services in Grove Park, or Weston College Graduation ceremonies and the Armed Forces Weekend events, as well as in Grove Park Bandstand during the summer months, and Eat Festivals.
The band have been in existence since 1963 and are currently graded in the 2nd Section of the National Brass Band Championships. Qualifying for the National Finals last year!
Weston Brass – the pride of our town.
However, they need a new home for rehearsals and to store their equipment. They had used the ‘school rooms’ attached to the back of Church Road Methodist Church in Lower Church Road, but the church has now closed and the whole building may be sold.
28 musicians rehearse twice a week for them to keep their ‘world-class’ reputation. We are asking if anyone knows of a space where they could store equipment and rehearse twice a week? Size of rehearsal space – we would need around 1000 square ft (square or rectangular).
Not made of brass!
Of course for groups like these budgets are limited but some money is available. It would be a great loss for the town to lose its brass band. We hope that the kindness we so often see in Weston, could fine these talented players a home.
